What is the water content of Desìo spherical and toric lenses?
Desìo daily and quarterly lenses are both made of Polymacon, with a water content of 38%. Desìo monthly lenses use Hioxifilcon D, with a water content of 54%. Toric lenses are only available with a quarterly replacement schedule.
Why do quarterly lenses have a diameter of 14.5 mm and dailies 14.2 mm?
The larger total diameter (Ø) of the quarterlies is needed for the correct positioning of the Prism Ballast in the toric version.
What dioptric range does Desìo offer?
Daily and quarterly lenses cover a range from +6.00 D to −13.00 D. Monthly lenses cover a range from +4.00 D to −8.00 D.
How many colours does Desìo offer?
Desìo offers 34 shades: 9 browns, 9 greys, 8 blues, 6 greens and 2 special Pantone colours, Very Peri violet and Mocha Mousse beige.
Can I combine a spherical lens with a toric one in the same shade?
Yes. To guarantee perfectly identical colouring, however, the two lenses must belong to the same production batch.
Why the Prism Ballast and not dynamic stabilisation?
The Prism Ballast guarantees consistent axis stability regardless of the amount of astigmatic power (up to −3.00 D), with better performance especially during and after blinking.
Where is the Prism Ballast positioned?
It is a base-down prism, created by increasing the thickness on the lower portion of the edge. Once the lens is applied, it settles stably at 6 o'clock.
Are toric lenses available from stock?
No. Toric lenses are manufactured to specific prescription.
Which cylinders and axes are available for Desìo toric lenses?
Desìo toric lenses are available in 11 cylinders, from −0.50 D to −3.00 D, in 0.25 D steps. The axes cover the full arc from 10° to 180°, in 10° steps. Every combination of cylinder and axis can be matched with a spherical power from 0.00 to -10.00.
What do the terms 1, 2 and 3 tones mean?
They refer to the complexity of the iris pigmentation: 1 tone indicates uniform colouring with no ring; 2 tones uniform colouring with a more visible ring near the iris edge; 3 tones uniform colouring, with a ring and accentuated pigmentation near the pupillary opening.
Which solutions can I prescribe for Desìo lenses?
The lenses have been tested with the main multi-purpose solutions on the market: none produced morphological changes to the material or the colours. Daily use of peroxide-based solutions is not recommended.
Are Desìo lenses compatible with tear substitutes?
Yes. The polymer and the colours undergo no changes on contact with commonly prescribed tear substitutes.
Are Desìo monthly lenses available in a toric version?
No. The toric version is available exclusively in quarterly lenses.
Why Hioxifilcon D and not Silicone Hydrogel for monthly lenses?
Silicone Hydrogel offers a high Dk value, but a more hydrophobic surface that makes pigment deposition less faithful: the rendering of the fine colour detail of the iris shading suffers as a result. Hioxifilcon D instead guarantees more accurate colour reproduction.
What should I do if a lens is damaged when the blister is opened?
Contact customer service and complete the claim form, sending both the damaged lens and the intact one. Quality control will assess the replacement of both lenses from the same batch.
