A complete practical guide for contact lens wearers: how to apply, remove, store and care for them. Advice for beginners and experienced wearers alike.

The information in this section is essential for safe and effective use of coloured contact lenses. Reading it carefully is the first step towards a positive experience and towards protecting the health of your eyes.
Contact lenses, including cosmetic ones, are medical devices. They require hygiene, adherence to replacement schedules and the supervision of a qualified optician or optometrist. Do not buy coloured contact lenses from unqualified retailers or unauthorised websites: the risk to eye health is real.
Before applying the lens, place it on the tip of your index finger and look at it against the light:
Vision should be optimal immediately after insertion. If your vision is blurred, check that the lens is not inside out: if it is, remove it, turn it round, clean it and reapply it.
Remove the lens, rinse it with multi-purpose solution and reapply it. If the discomfort persists, remove it for good and contact your optician. Never force wear if you experience burning, heavy watering or redness.
